We truly were looking for an alternative
(An interview with American political activist Christopher Hayes by Natella Speranskaya)
Natella Speranskaya: How did you discover the Fourth Political Theory? And how would you evaluate its chances of becoming a major ideology of the 21st century?
Christopher Hayes: I would have to say I rediscovered the Forth Political Theroy over the past few years with my return to Political Activism. For those who do not know me before the inception of New Resistance, in the 1990’s I was a highly active member of the American Front. Our brand of Third Position was unlike any Third Position at the time or any currently being espoused today. We truly were looking for an alternative beyond facisim, communism, and liberalism. We had early influences from Christian Bouchet and Alexander Dugin so it was natural that we looked to Europe and Russia for inspiration. The promotion of such ideologies breaking away from reationary norms along with symbolism and tactics from the classical Left sped up the progress of us fighting a war on “two fronts” here at home, being called “commies” from the racial right and “nazi” from the liberalized left. So with that being said what I have seen happen since my departure in 2001 is beyond encouraging. What I have found in Professor Dugin’s work on the Forth Political Theroy, being optimistic, can see it taking foothold as an ideology to be taken seriously. As far as the U.S. is concerned nothing short of complete disaster would shake the foundation of liberal democracy.
Natella Speranskaya: Leo Strauss when commenting on the fundamental work of Carl Schmitt The Concept of the Political notes that despite all radical critique of liberalism incorporated in it Schmitt does not follow it through since his critique remains within the scope of liberalism”. “His anti-Liberal tendencies, – claims Strauss, - remain constrained by “systematics of liberal thought” that has not been overcome so far, which – as Schmitt himself admits – “despite all failures cannot be substituted by any other system in today’s Europe. What would you identify as a solution to the problem of overcoming the liberal discourse? Could you consider the Fourth Political Theory by Alexander Dugin to be such a solution? The theory that is beyond the three major ideologies of the 20th century – Liberalism, Communism and Fascism, and that is against the Liberal doctrine.
Christopher Hayes: I definitely see Alexander Dugin’s Forth Political Theroy being a solution. Where Schmitt might have fallen short sighted Dugin paints a bigger picture. The passing of time has been to our advantage when it comes to us being able to theorize and reflect on the passing of the 20th century, but as time goes on the struggle becomes more difficult. Just as we can find the faults with neo-con, liberal democracy so can its architects and keepers. As we can see with what has been happening globally it will do whatever it feels to maintain its hold and further its agenda for a New World Order.
Natella Speranskaya: Do you agree that today there are “two Europes”: the one – the liberal one (incorporating the idea of “open society”, human rights, registration of same-sex marriages, etc.) and the other Europe (“a different Europe”) – politically engaged, thinker, intellectual, spiritual, the one that considers the status quo and domination of liberal discourse as a real disaster and the betrayal of the European tradition. How would you evaluate chances of victory of a “different Europe” over the ”first” one?
Christopher Hayes: Without a doubt I would agree there are two Europes. I think Victory will only come at a high price. As people feel the stings of loss on their own and realize no material wealth, possession, or entertaining leisure will fill the gaps left behind from a loss of Cultural Identity, only then will people begin to realize the false promise of universal equality was just a way to get free people to voluntarily place themselves in the shackles of international slavery.
Natella Speranskaya: “There is nothing more tragic than a failure to understand the historical moment we are currently going through; - notes Alain de Benoist – this is the moment of postmodern globalization”. The French philosopher emphasizes the significance of the issue of a new Nomos of the Earth or a way of establishing international relations. What do you think the fourth Nomos will be like? Would you agree that the new Nomos is going to be Eurasian and multipolar (transition from universum to pluriversum)?
Christopher Hayes: A. its easy to see the stage is being set for a world war. Like it or not things have to get worse for any real change to take place. The creation of a Eurasian Union or a multipolar world with Eurasia countering Atlantia seems to be the natural course evolving before our eyes.
Natella Speranskaya: Do you agree that the era of the white European human race has ended, and the future will be predetermined by Asian cultures and societies?
Christopher Hayes: A. No. I don’t feel the era of white European race is at an end as of yet. Although there might be forces at work to see that becomes a reality the positive effects we have had when it comes to the historical influences on the creation of civilization and the current influences with the modern and postmodern world we live in it will take more economics and war to do away with thousands of years of that influence. That influence goes back to the Era of Indo-European Culture that we all share, from the Indus Valley, to Greece and Rome, Germany, and the heart of Russia. That is commonality that binds us in our struggle today. As far as Asian cultures having more influence I that could be inevitable in the distant future but it doesn’t mean the destruction of white Europe. If we move in a positive direction the two cultures could find ways of enriching each other without either having any true loss when it comes to cultural identity.
Natella Speranskaya: Do you consider Russia to be a part of Europe or do you accept the view that Russia and Europe represent two different civilizations?
Christopher Hayes: A. Although Russia might have geographic and racial ties to Europe it has historically shined as a separate entity. From the dark ages through the cold war it’s done more to hold on to an identity that is solely Russian, where Europe and the US have created something with no substance only to enslave its people to blindly consume.
Natella Speranskaya: Contemporary ideologies are based on the principle of secularity. Would you predict the return of religion, the return of sacrality? If so, in what form? Do you consider it to be Islam, Christianity, Paganism or any other forms of religion?
Christopher Hayes: A. Without question I see a return to Religion and sacrality. I will happily say that has happened to me personally, I found Krishna Conciousness , the Vedas having their origins with Aryan beginnings, and I see it gaining momentum as more people have an understanding of Kali Yuga. Also I do see it happening with the major Religions, although what is considered Christianity in the States is a confusing mess, Orthodox Christianity has deep roots and a real connection with the Spiritual so I see a real return there as well. As far as Islam is concerned its own internal war and the war being waged against it by collective Zionism is holding it back, but it will still remain strong and have more influence than a return to Paganism. The Religions that have withstood the onslaught of time and still have a strong influence on humanity today will continue to thrive. This isnt just a global struggle economically or geopolitically it is war of the Spirit, of values against a soulless Demoniac, a collective social order against an ego-centric gluten. The true Revolution is part and parcel of that comonality, this is Kali Yuga after all and we will not be devoured.
